Stay supportive of one another. A family may be a group of friends- a support system. Encourage one another. Judgmental remarks and sarcasm erode confidence and trust not only in the receiver but in the person who delivers the verbal blow. Be mindful of your words and work to do this even while under pressure. Forgive yourself and forgive others on a regular basis.

Check this out! Marshall Rosenberg breaks down and shares information about non-violent communication. He has been working in over 150 countries around the world for years, teaching non-violent communication strategies. He has helped people who have been at war for years, including tribes, countries, cultures, families, friends, business partners, employees and employers, and marriages. He brings people together in peace and understanding, utilizing empathy and by "hearing" (and feeling) the needs and humaness of others. These skills are very important in creating healthy families and friendships.
