Hello,
I am hoping to begin a garden in the backyard of a row house. There is a relatively large plot of land (for a city) which would be great to begin the garden. The problem is that gardening projects that have been done by others in this area can often lead to increased pest problems. Pests, particularly rats, are a problem here in general because of the close proximity of the houses. Are there any recommendations anyone can offer before I begin this gardening project. Are there any types of barriers that might protect the garden? Additionally, if food seems to be a problem with rats continually eating it, would a garden of just flowers be safe from rats?
Thanks!!

Hello friend! Thanks for considering growing a garden! We know rats can be one of the most difficult rodent pests to deal with, especially if you want to stick with organic methods. We found this website to have helpful information: www.bbg.org/gardening/article/managing_rats_in_city_gardensGood Luck and Happy Growing!
